Finding the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the bestrental:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Dog-Friendly Villa w/ Walkable Beach Access, AC, Deck, WiFi & Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
