Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Dog-Friendly Villa w\/ Walkable Beach Access, AC, Deck, WiFi & Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
