Strategies to get the very best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, shift your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Dog-Friendly Villa w\/ Walkable Beach Access, AC, Deck, WiFi & Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
