Tips for getting the best rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Dog-Friendly Villa w/ Walkable Beach Access, AC, Deck, WiFi & Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
