Getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Free pool heat - Amazing home with ocean & marsh views plus short walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
