Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 300 steps to the beach! - Pet Friendly Ranch Style House North Forest Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.

Have a great stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
