Tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 300 steps to the beach! - Pet Friendly Ranch Style House North Forest Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
