Strategies for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Luxury Four Bedroom Home Third Row From the Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
