How to get the best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book the perfectrental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4 BR Home, Private Pool, and Spa on Tranquil Lagoon has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
