Our top Rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental home:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Spacious Home 2 Masters Golf \/ Lagoon Views (with dock) Ideal for Big Family has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
