How to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Wonderful condo near the beach with pool, balcony, washer\/dryer has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
