How to find the best rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Two Bedroom First Floor Single-Level Villa with Pond and Golf Course Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
