Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Hilton Head rental home:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful Golf Course Views From Your Private Deck! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
