Our top Vacation rental home tips:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a budget.
- St. Andrews 1772 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
