Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing a perfect Hilton Head rental home:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. 108 Beachwalk Pet Friendly Condo, Steps to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
