Strategies to get the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Walk to Yacht Basin, shops, dining & playground in famous Harbourtown has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
