How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Perfect Location for a Family Vacation! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
