Booking the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Spectacular home located on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
