Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Pet friendly villa overlooking the Fazio Golf Course in Palmetto Dunes! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
