Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Hilton Head rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Breathtaking Ocean Views & Heated Pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
