Our top Hilton Head rental home booking tips:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Sunset Rentals
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
