How to book the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Breakers 117 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
