Tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Wonderfully Updated Three Bed Four Bath Villa Walking Distance to the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
