Getting the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities.
  • Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your Hilton Head rental home:

  • To start, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Large Private Home with Private Pool and Spa! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
