Booking the best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Hilton Head rental:
- Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Large Home Great for Families! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
