Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the bestvacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. New to the Rental Market! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
