Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting and booking the best Hilton Head rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Two Bedroom Villa Five Minute Walk to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
