Tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Coastal charm villa with golf-course views of Robert Trent Golf Course has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your trip.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
