How to book the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Smartly Decorated Updated Two Bedroom Villa Walking Distance to the Ocean! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
