Tricks and tips to get the optimal Hilton Head rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Updated Villa Easy Walk to the Beach and Pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
