Tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Hilton Head rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Waterfront Penthouse Villa with Shared Pool and Ocean View - Close to the Beach has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
