Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the right Hilton Head rental:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Cozy 2 Bedroom King Beds\/2 Bathroom Townhouse with Sunny Golf Views Sleeps 4 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
