Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Hilton Head rental experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Large Two Bedroom Villa with Easy Access to Several Amenities! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
