How to find the best rental experience:

When to reserve a Hilton Head rental & When to go:

  • Book your Hilton Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Stunning Four Bedroom Hilton Head Island vacation rental! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
