Hilton Head rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- To start, have your family select date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Large Sprawling Home Very Close to the Beach and Activities! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
