Hilton Head rental booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- To find the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental home:
- First, have your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Spacious Dog-Friendly Waterfront Getaway w\/ Kayaks, Ping-Pong Table, Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
