Tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing yourrental:

  • Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. 6 Terra Bella Trace - Oceanfront, Elevator, Private Pool and Spa!! has 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book your home. More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review.
