Tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the best value, change your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spacious Condo with WiFi, Wet Bar, & Water Views - Walk to South Beach Marina has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
