Strategies for getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Large Home with Spectacular Panoramic Views of RobertTrent Jones Golf Course! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
