Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Snowbird-friendly studio condo near beach with tennis, pickleball, & water views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
