Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • 2 Pools, Walk to Exclusive Beach Cabana has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
