Getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Hilton Head rental home:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Waterfront Condo with Shared Pools, Hot Tubs, Private Balconies, and Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
