Tricks and tips to get the very best rental experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking your Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Waterfront Condo with Shared Pools, Hot Tubs, Private Balconies, and Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
