Strategies for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 5th floor condo with spectacular Ocean views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
