Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose and book the perfect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean-View Condo with Beach Access, Tennis, Playground, Shared Pool & Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
