Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ocean-View Condo with Beach Access, Tennis, Playground, Shared Pool & Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is suitable for your family.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your invoice.

Have a great stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
