How to find the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Recently Renovated Coastal Inspired Villa, Short Walk to the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
