Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Comfortable Condo with Shared Pool, Hot Tub, and Ocean Views - Walk to the Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
