Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the best Hilton Head rental:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Quiet escape but never too far from sun, sand, water and fun! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
