Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick your Hilton Head vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Brigantine Quarters, Shipyard Plantation, Hilton Head 2 bed\/2 bath condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
