Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the right Hilton Head rental:

  • Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Nicely Appointed Home with Lagoon Views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
