How to book the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Nicely Appointed Home with Lagoon Views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
