Tips to get the very best rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose yourrental:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Private pool, spacious open floor, and more! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
