Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Hilton Head rental home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Private pool, spacious open floor, and more! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
