Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental in Hilton Head:

  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
