Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront condo with pools, hot tubs, WiFi, washer\/dryer, & central A\/C has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
