Tips to get the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home:

  • First, have your family select trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront condo with pools, hot tubs, WiFi, washer/dryer, & central A/C has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
