Hilton Head rental home tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Perfect For Groups, Pool Access has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
