How to find the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 7816 Centre Court has scenic wooded and lagoons views in Palmetto Dunes. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
