How to book the best Hilton Head rental experience:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Book your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Fifth Floor Villamare unit with lots of updates! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
