How to book the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 4 bedroom\/4.5 bathroom home with private pool, screened in porch, golf views has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
