Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Captains Quarters w\/ a Shelter Cove Marina view, 10% discount for weekly rentals has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
