How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Captains Quarters with a Shelter Cove Marina view has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
